IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization
27 June–1 July 2022 // Milan, Italy

Welcome

Welcome from the Chairs of NetSoft 2022

The 8th IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization (IEEE NetSoft 2022) will be held in Milan, Italy from June 27 to July 1, 2022. We are pleased to welcome you to Milan, the economic capital of Italy and one of the most vibrant cities in Europe! The conference will be hosted by Politecnico di Milano, the top technical university in Italy (founded in 1863), in its historical downtown campus.

The theme of IEEE NetSoft 2022 is “Network Softwarization Coming of Age: New Challenges and Opportunities”.  It expresses the common sentiment in our scientific community that while network softwarization has reached a certain level of maturity, there are plenty of opportunities for fresh new ideas and solutions that will take things to the next level and allow our field to continue to grow for many years to come. As in previous IEEE NetSoft events, the 2022 edition will showcase the latest research and developments from academia and industry concerning concepts, design, deployment, and operation of softwarized networks. We received forward-looking scientific contributions from 34 countries from across the world concerning a vast range of topics, from the most popular (AI techniques to support network automation; programmable SDN and NFV languages and architectures; security, safety, trust and privacy in virtualized environments; service function chaining), to the most specialized (Cooperative multi-party, multi-tenant SDN/NFV environments; socio-economic impact and regulatory implications for softwarization; DevOps methodologies for network softwarization).

IEEE NetSoft 2022 will feature an intense five-day conference program. The core of the conference, running from June 28 to June 30, will feature inspiring keynote talks delivered by world-class researchers and practitioners, a Distinguished Expert Panel, Technical Sessions, as well as demos showcasing prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations of ongoing research. On June 27 and July 1, focused workshops and tutorials will provide the opportunity to dive deeper into selected specialized topics such as dataplane programming, O-RAN, Intent-Based Networking, and cyber-security and privacy in software-defined infrastructures.

Given the general improvement of the COVID-19 pandemic situation around the world in general and in Europe and Italy in particular, we decided to organize NetSoft 2022 as an in-person event and hope to be able to welcome you in beautiful Milan.  This will provide opportunities to network and renew friendships as well as create new ones in ways that previous (virtual) conference editions could not.  To this end, IEEE NetSoft 2022 will  feature a social program to complement the scientific core of the event. That being said, we realize that the pandemic is not over and that not everybody will be able to travel, hence IEEE NetSoft 2022 will also welcome and accommodate participation and presentations from remote authors.

We hope that you will enjoy the conference and we are looking forward to see you at IEEE NetSoft 2022!

Covid Notice

The Organizing Committee of NetSoft 2022 believes that a physical-presence event is the most appropriate form for a scientific conference. Thus, we hope to welcome all NetSoft attendees to Milan in June and we expect significant in-person attendance.  At the same time, we are well aware that the Covid pandemic is far from being overcome. We understand that not everybody will be able or willing to travel given those circumstances. NetSoft will therefore also accommodate remote participants and presenters.

We kindly invite all NetSoft 2022 authors and speakers to periodically check the Venue/Travel page of this web site for news and updates about possible Covid restrictions and how they may impact our conference. For more details see the dedicated page.
